One of the privileges of being a Bible Gateway Blogger Grid member is that I will occasionally be offered a review copy of Bibles & Christian books.

This month I received NRSV Simple Faith Bible (With Reflections From Jimmy Carter)

Some of the components that I like about this edition of the NRSV are:

• The Reflections from Jimmy Carter:
  • Bible in Focus – These are formatted like a daily devotional. 
  • Bible in Life – These are based on passages that have special meaning to President Carter.
  • Ponder & Pray – These contain prayers based on a particular passage of scripture.
  • Reflections – These are little snippets of wisdom.
• The Comfort Print® Font is easy to read without having to have a heavy large-print Bible.
• The quality of the paper; I am a very tactile person & the smooth sturdy paper is delightful.
• An Alphabetically List of the Books of the Bible.
• The introductions to each book are written in clear, easy to understand language.

I have never spent much time reading the NRSV so I decided to use it exclusively for a few days, including using it at church and a couple of Bible studies before completing my review.  During this time I found the translation to be accurate when reading side by side with several other versions.  I  also appreciate the notations regarding the original Hebrew or Greek words. I will definitely be using the NRSV to study The Word in the future.
