Trying Something New

A couple of weeks ago I came across a fun blogging activity. At the time I wasn’t ready to play along. Today I decided to give it a try.

Choose 4 things within 4 feet of you and write for 4 minutes. One sentence each.

Some refuse to drink out of my big pink mug; does the size or the color change the taste?

Brightly colored eggs in a glass bowl call to my kitties like catnip on a scratching post.

House plants, dry soil, wilted leaves, long for a deep drink and a shot of fertilizer.

Used tissues, empty cups, Clorox wipes, and rumpled sheets are remnants of covid in the house.

Here are the original posts that inspired me to give it a try. How did I do? Are you willing to give it a try?

Depending on response I get, I might make this a regular feature. Weekly on Saturday? Once a month? Who knows?

  1. Such exercises are valuable practice for our writing skills. Maybe turn each item into a short gospel line would make it more challenging?

My empty cup just waiting to be filled; I sit here in prayer awaiting His Spirit to fill me.
My ticking mantle clock; time goes forward as I do in His care, onwards and upwards to Heaven.
My framed photo of my dear dog; Glen’s love was sincere and always there, just like God’s love for you and me!
My blinds on the window; blinds hide me from the world’s gaze, but God can see everything in life and in my heart.

  2. It’s just a warm cup of coffee, but it sure helps me start my day.

A cozy throw blanket helps, too, as the mornings are still a bit crisp this time of year.

My trusty pen and journal are never far away.

A battery powered candle reminds me how some once started their mornings.
