Yeah, I know that you thought I was going to talk about the skyrocketing cost of gasoline, but that is NOT the topic of my post today. Instead, I want to tell you about a conversation that I had while I was fueling up the bus the other day.
As you can probably imagine, it takes a long time to fill the gas tank on a school bus, which leaves plenty of time for chit-chat with strangers.
[CUE KIND STRANGER]
As I was standing at the pump watching the numbers on the dial speed beyond the $120 mark, a kindly older man peeked around the back of the bus and said, “I know that you have to be a really good driver to be entrusted with preschoolers on a daily basis. I am a retired junior high teacher, and I can only imagine the things you have been going through over the last couple of years.”
I was speechless so I just flashed him a goofy smile and replied with a hearty “Thank-You!”
Ok, so I did write a wee bit about gas prices, but mostly it is about how a few simple words from a stranger can make someone’s whole day.
How kind of the gentleman to speak up with a word of encouragement! It costs us so little to do that, yet it can mean so much.

So true! The “ten second rule” says if you think of something nice to say to someone (or do for someone), say/do it within ten seconds, before you talk yourself out of it. 😉

What a kind soul you met at the gas pump. I love when my day is brightened by a stranger. What the world needs now more than ever is kindness and encouraging words. My post this week quotes Proverbs 12:25 and 1 Thessalonians 5:11 which encourages us to encourage each other and build each other up. Blessings to you as you drive God’s precious children.

A kind comment can absolutely make someone’s day. It can be anywhere, anyplace, and it always makes a difference.

All too often we take those nice comments home with us and share them with friends and family instead of telling the person they are meant for. I’m so happy he told you what he thought and I’m thankful you shared it so we can all see the difference it makes when someone speaks kindness.
