SYNOPSIS
Following the example of Jesus, a “CEO” who built a disorganized “staff” of twelve into a thriving enterprise, a handbook for corporate success details a fresh, profound approach to motivating and managing others that translates to any business.
REVIEW
My husband, Michael, suggested that I read this book in conjunction with my childcare center management textbooks. Being the dutiful wife, I agreed to do so.
The chapters are short (5 pages or less) and read like a devotional. I typically read several chapters in one sitting because they flow so easily from one to the next.
Consider this quote from the chapter entitled “His ‘I Am’ Statements are What He Became”:
“People who succeed speak well of themselves to themselves. Nowhere in the Gospel does Jesus put himself down. Jesus was full of self-knowledge and self-love.”
I love this because it reminds me that if I intend to build into the lives of teachers and young children I must be confident in my ability to do so!
As you may know, I went back to school in January 2023 in order to earn my certification to be a Teacher/Site Director in a preschool or childcare center.
Gratitude is a key element of leadership because gratitude means an open heart, a listening heart, a faith-filled heart. How could anyone be a leader without faith and gratitude in a Higher Power or have a better future built on better ways?
God has little use for people whose main concern is “What will the neighbors think?” Leaders must be willing to sacrifice and take risks with their public image.
This sounds like an excellent book of encouragement!
