Death on the Trail of Jesse James (Pelican Shores #6) by Bessie Barr [REVIEW]

SYNOPSIS

A town-wide illness. A sabotaged golf cart. And a killer hiding in plain sight.

As a mysterious illness sweeps through Pelican Shores, several residents land in the ICU. The locals are quick to suspect bad burgers, secret feuds, and something even more sinister. So, when cut brake lines send a golf cart crashing and a neighbor ends up dead, it’s clear. This is no summer flu. It’s murder.

Finn Dockrey, artist, café owner, and semi-professional snoop, is just trying to enjoy the neighborhood BBQ along with her best friend Birdie, loyal golden retriever Beau, and feline sleuth Queen Bean. But attention falls on the shady health inspector sniffing around. And the sketchy new chef at The Plucky Pelican is suspicious. Add to that the cryptic letters that surface, yet again, from the local legend, Jesse James. Finn can’t help but dig deeper.

The trail of Jesse James has always been cold. Not anymore. Now, it’s on fire. And it’s leading Finn straight into a deadly trap.

The suspects are stacking up faster than the charred hot dogs. Is the killer cooking up a cover story? Or is someone hiding a secret recipe for revenge?

With her heart tangled in a budding romance with Pelican Shores’ most charming detective, Finn must keep her wits sharp. Because Jesse James is back. And this time, he means business.

Death on the Trail of Jesse James is a twisty, page-turning cozy mystery filled with sun, suspense, and small-town secrets that refuse to stay buried.
