As I watched the D-Day coverage on the news this morning, I was once again reminded of my Grandfather’s role in this event. You see, he was on the “clean-up crew” that collected the bodies of our fallen countrymen in preparation for their burial in what is now known as the Normandy American Cemetery. Today I learned that many French families adopted
these fallen heroes as their own and have lovingly cared for the final resting places over the last 75 years. I am proud to be an American & Floyd C. Shockey, I am proud to be your granddaughter.
