With Angel Tree® (a division of Prison Fellowship), volunteers reach out to children with a gift on behalf of their incarcerated parent at Christmas, and minister year-round with mentoring, camps, and sports clinics.
This past Friday night myself & 17 other volunteers spent several hours at McHenry County Jail. We sat in small groups of 2-6 and talked with the inmates about their children & grandchildren as they completed their Angel Tree requests for this Christmas. The smile on their faces when I asked them to tell me about their kids warmed my heart. I am sure that in this environment they usually don’t feel comfortable sharing such intimate details about their family.
Please join me in praying for the imates and their children as the volunteers & partner churches do the shopping, wrapping, packing & delivering of these special gifts.
Small groups are always nice. I like them too at church. Angel tree is wonderful. Do you guys ask them questions to provoke conversation? Or do they speak on their own?

There is “official” paperwork that they need to fill out. I just ask questions as they fill out the form. It feels very natural.
