When our daughter was in elementary school her friend invited her to VBS and some other events for kids at the church. At the same time God was showing us that it was time to become part of a smaller church. We we previously members of a Chicago based megachurch. We liked the people & the preaching was solid. We have now been at Real Life Church of the Nazarene for about 12 years. God has now called our leadership to a new work in our city. We don’t know what it is yet but our building is for sale and once it sells our new ministry will launch. In the mean time we have been enjoying time with another local Nazarene church. We are excited to see what God has in store for us. The waiting can be hard but His timing is perfect. CLICK HERE for a post I wrote about this on February 23, 2020
2. Your views on music
I enjoy all styles of music if they are performed well. God can use anything for His good, including those styles of music that you or I may not necessarily enjoy. I do think that we need to pay attention to the lyrics of any song that we listen to and not get caught up in the catchy tune.
3. I would appreciate your thoughts on current events as seen through your personal ‘biblical lens”
Without getting too political, I think that God is very sad at the direction this country is heading. There is enough blame and hate-speech being thrown around every day and I have no intention of adding fuel to the fire. If everyone in the US who claims to be a Christ-follower learned to truly love God & love people, our country and the world would be in a much better state.
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39 NIV
4. Marriage
Having been married nearly 26 years I could write quite a lot on this subject but I will try to be brief. God designed marriage to be between one man & one woman. I find no other biblical evidence to support polygamy or same sex marriage. Let me pause here to say that God looks at all sin the same and therefore if you have loved ones in these types of relationships you should pray for their deliverance and not cut them out of your lives.
Love is not a feeling or emotion it is a choice that we must make every single day. The infatuation that you had when you first met your spouse may not not always be there. But what is there is the commitment that you made to God & each other to remain married “til death do us part”. Marriage is hard work and must be nurtured on a regular basis. If you are struggling in this relationship, there is help out there. Find and older couple to mentor you. Seek out a good Christian counselor. Try the Love Dare or Fireproof Your Marriage Couple’s Kit. Just don’t give up!!
3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.
21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[c] 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Ephesians 5:3, 21-33 NIV
5. All things about Christian ethics
Every decision we make, every action we take should point others to God. If our actions are doing otherwise it is time to make some adjustments, NOW!!!
When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey him. Deuteronomy 4:30 NIV
6. Did you grow up in a Christian home?
Yes I did. My parents both grew up in families that loved the Lord. I am very grateful that my life started out this way, I have no idea how my life would have turned out without Christ.
7. How long have you been blogging? Why did you start? Do you experience times of not knowing/having anything to write?
The original project was to write short entries of EXACTLY 100 words for 100 days (December 2017). As you will see I didn’t always follow the rules & sometimes combined 2 Days and wrote 200 words. When I got to Day 83, I began my training to be a jail/prison chaplain & kind of dropped the ball. I have since decided to allow myself the freedom to post at irregular intervals & to write until God tells me I am done. In April 2018 I transferred those original posts to this format and have never looked back.
As far as writers block is concerned I think these posts will help with that:
8. Tell us about your awesome husband. He sounds hilarious
I suspect that a friend of my “awesome husband” asked this question as they often trade puns & other jokes back and forth. In our relationship he is the funny one, but don’t tell him I said so. 😂🤣😂🤣
9. What are your hobbies & what would your advice be for the younger generation?
I have lots of hobbies/interests (in no particular order):
- Blogging
- Reading
- Movies
- Board Games
- Scrapbooking
- Jigsaw Puzzles
- Word Puzzles
- Number Puzzles
- Water Aerobics
- Cooking
- Family Time (with no agenda)
- Bible Study
To the younger generation I would say:
- Find a good Bible preaching church and get involved
- Pray, pray and pray some more
- Study the Bible
- Seek advice from your elders
- Trust God more than you trust man
- Strive to see others as Christ sees them
10. How many children do you have?
I have 2 adult children (Mark & Rachel)

I you have further questions or comments on anything I have said please feel free to comment below. My blog is a judgement free zone. We all have our own journey and as such need to give each other the grace the God gives to us. May God give you and extra portion of what you need today.
Is there any Biblical words on the subject of asexuality? Feel free to not answer; the topic isn’t for everyone. I hope you stay safe out there and keep on keeping on! 😁

Now to the unmarried[a] and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. 9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry
than to burn with passion. 1 Corinthians 7:8 NIV

I appreciate your input Temi. Being a jail chaplain has helped me tackle some of the stickier questions. And my son is famous for asking me tricky questions.

Roman 1:22-28 explains Homosexuality so well but I love what you wrong up there that all sin are the same.
Sin is just a term used to define, falling away from faith by going against the commandments of God, so whether you are an homosexual or you just a liar or you are a murderer, in the eyes of God, you are all sinners.
At the end of the day. everyone has to choose their struggle.
Thank you Barb for allowing us know you more.
