This Advent I have been focusing on some of the characters in the Christmas story. I have discovered that when you weave together the names of the people with the meaning of their names, a beautiful story emerges.

Elizabeth – God is My Oath
Zachariah – God Has Remembered
John – Jehovah Has Been Gracious
Mary – Wished For Child
Joseph – He Will Add
Jesus (Emmanuel) – God With Us
Let those definitions roll around in your head for a few minutes. Isn’t amazing how they tell the story in just a few words?
