Bloganuary – Day 6

Each day of January participants are emailed a thought provoking question that can be turned into a blog post.

Who is someone that inspires you and why?

Most recently I have been inspired by my daughter, Rachel. She is a 1st-year teacher in the inner-city. Her school is the poorest one in the district with 18% homelessness. She faces racism, inappropriate language, and violence on an almost daily basis. As you can imagine this all wears on her emotionally. BUT she still gets up and goes to work every day. She could have chosen to work in an area where the kiddos have enough school supplies, food in their bellies and warm winter coats. However, when faced with the choice she declared, “I need to be where I can have the biggest impact”. I am beyond proud of her.

This mom would greatly appreciate it if you would add Rachel (aka Ms. H) to your prayer list. Thank-you!

  1. God bless her! It’s rare for any of us not to choose the easiest route. May her prayers be answered, and may she make a huge difference in the lives of those kiddos. Praying that today she will receive a bit (or more than a bit) of encouragement – a sign that she is being effective that will buoy her spirits and give her strength to persevere.
