What is Share Four Somethings? Share Four Somethings is a monthly link-up that [Heather] started back in 2018. The concept is to share the same four topics every month as a way to look back and recap your month. The link-up opens on the 4th Saturday of every month and stays open for one week. The topics for 2022 are Something Loved, Something Gleaned, Something Braved, and Something Achieved. If you want to learn a little more about the topics, we will be writing about in 2022; you can read more about them at Share Four Somethings in 2022.
Something Gleaned
Our church did not have a Good Friday service this year, so when a friend invited me to attend a “Memorial of Jesus, Death” at the local Kingdom Hall, I prayerfully agreed to accompany her.
I knew in my heart that in order to have an intelligent conversation about faith with this friend, I needed to have at least a rudimentary understanding of her faith. Therefore, while we were enroute I prayed for God’s protection of my heart and mind, He did not fail me!
The key differences that I discovered were:
- JW only use the New World Translation of scripture
- JW do not believe in the trinity
- JW view on eternal life and “memorial gifts”
- 144,000 of those “in agreement with the Holy Scriptures” will be elevated to the status of “born again” and will rule in Heaven with Jehovah
- there is an unlimited number of those “in agreement” who will rule on Earth.
- only the “born again” can partake of the special meal/memorial gifts (communion)
- if one partakes of the special meal and is not born again, Jehovah will be angry
The hymns for the evening were:
Everyone in attendance was friendly and welcoming so I can see how people can get swept up in the community of witnesses. They were also way more dressed up than I usually am for church.
I’m not sure how I will be called upon to share the Gospel with my friend, BUT God knows. I have confidence that He will lay out the next steps when the time is right.
Something Loved
The Easter Worship Service at Mundelein Church of the Nazarene was filled with so many special moments. I was privileged to join the rest of the worship team for King of Kings (Hillsong United).
Something Braved or Saved
The end of March/beginning of April I had several things going on with my health which translated into a trip to the ER, multiple doctor visits and innumerable tests. I am not very patient when it comes to waiting for test results but it the end all is well, and life goes on as before.
Something Achieved
This may not be a big deal to others but the fact that our Easter decorations were put away in a timely manner is HUGE for me. I love decorating for various holidays but when it comes to putting it all away, I tend to procrastinate.
I’m sad to hear of the health scare, Barb, but so glad to hear all is well. That was very brave of you to go to the GF service with your friend. I pray for an open door to share the Gospel with her in the future. Congratulations for putting your decorations away in a timely manner! Sometimes it’s the little things in life that are the big things.

I’m glad you were able to participate in Easter worship with the rest of the team. We were visitors at a church on Easter and enjoyed singing familiar old hymns from my childhood.

When I was teaching my teaching assistant was JW. She was very sweet and I tried to discern the differences between what she believed and what I believed and she wasn’t really forthcoming. I knew a few of these things but am glad to learn more. Sorry for the health scare but thankful all is well. Have a wonderful week.

Oh boy, now I’m feeling the pressure to get my Easter decor tucked away. I did so outside but everything is still neatly in place (and a bit pollen coated from open windows)!! It will be great to see how God opens doors for you to share and witness to your friend!

I hope you’ll have an opportunity to share the gospel with your JW friend. I grew up in the Nazarene church, so it was interesting to see that you are involved with that denomination!
