Hope*Writers IG Spring Writing Challenge (Day 3) – ROUTINE

Wednesday’s questions for thought were:

  • What routines are working for you right now?
  • What routines are no longer working?
  • How do you direct your time in a way that honors your everyday life AND your work? Tell us about it!

I would say that the two most important routines in my life are my morning quiet time and weekly note writing.

I get up 3:30-4:00AM every morning in order to spend at least 90 minutes in prayer and Bible study (with copious amounts of coffee) before I have to get ready for work, church or activities. On the rare occasion when I choose to sleep in, my day usually goes sideways.

I usually set aside time on Friday for sending cards, letters and all manner of electronic messages. I love how the Holy Spirit whispers the words in my ear and they leave my body through the stroke of a pen or a few taps on the keyboard. Is there anything better than collaborating with our Creator to spread love and encouragement to others?

The moral of the story is, do not neglect your first love (JESUS). If you do, you will be incapable of loving others the way they need to be loved.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. ’The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” – Mark 12:30-31 NIV

But he finds joy in the Law of the Lord and thinks about His Law day and night. – Psalm 1:2 NLV
