Use Me Today, Lord

I love how God gives us what we need before we even realize we need it. As I was preparing to start a new job on Monday, I “just happened” to discover a YouVersion reading plan entitled Routed in Prayer: A Devotional for Those Starting New Jobs.

How cool is that?

In this season of transition, my prayer is that my work ethic and my daily interactions with others will be a TESTIMONY to my faith and that the light of Christ will shine through me. May I be used to love on and encourage others on a consistent basis.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. – 1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV

  1. I’d really, really rather be
    doing something different,
    but sentiment here makes of me
    something of a dissident,
    shaking finger in God’s face,
    turning back upon His call,
    saying “No!” to holy grace;
    no, I don’t want that at all.
    I’d much better bow my head
    and accept my thorny crown,
    and keep writing ’till I’m dead,
    using every verb and noun
    to point to Him as the answer
    even in hard-bleeding cancer.

  2. Oh, new job? Great Barb. I hope this one comes with wonderful stories as well! I also love many of the You version study plans. Usually, our younger son, who is in Texas, shares them with me as a way of our staying in touch. Blessings on your new adventure!

  3. Your blog was short and sweet. I use You Version also. My husband and I do a daily couples devotional and prayer. I am reading through the Bible and listening to it, which is good, but after reading the blog before yours I am encouraged to keep my Women’s Study Bible on the coffee table, and study the Word and not just listen to audio readings of Scripture. It’s great that you found one for your new job.,Good for you!
