In an Instant

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:2 NIV

In an instant
I can prepare a bowl of ramen noodles
I can make a pot of rice
I can even mix up some pudding

In an instant
Tragedy can alter my life forever
Kindness can transform sadness to joy
Resurrection revolutionized the meaning of life

In an instant
Every moment
Every action
Every thought

No longer mine
They are His

  1. I’ve never had any luck with making instant rice. So my husband got me a Japanese rice cooker. It takes 40 minutes, but comes out perfectly every time. Sometimes the easy way is not as good as putting the time in to get it done right. Just like with God. Spend the time with Him in prayer and reading His Word, and you will come out perfectly, in the end!

  2. My diet’s now confined to rice,
    and occasionally hash browns,
which might sound, well, not so nice,
but it doesn’t get me down
since I really can still eat
    (though it’s harder every day),
and though I can’t face and meat,
    enough nutrition comes my way
to let me do what I still can
and find in what I do some worth
    in life’s now-truncated plan,
and not be mourning at the dearth
    of feasts that life used to give;
don’t live to eat, just eat to live.
