Be QUICK About It!

To get us to quit dwadling my dad would often say, “Run as you go. Haste is a virtue”.

His words rarely, if ever secured the desired result.

This is not great parenting advice.

Yes, children can drag their feet when they are asked to do something they don’t want to do.

How do you react when someone asks you to be QUICK? My guess is that you do not like being rushed. I must confess, I often remind others that they need to hurry up because things are behind schedule.  You see if I’m not 15 minutes early, I feel like I’m late.

I must remind myself often that God created each of us with our own tendencies & character traits. This means that the only person that I can change is myself, and I can only do that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. – Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV

  1. When you’re faced with deadly test,
    and your heart’s feeling anginal,
Wyatt Earp said it the best,
“Fast is fine, accurate’s final ”
Now you may never have to face
a real bad hombre with a gun
(don’t quickly call this as a grace,
    a firefight is kinda fun),
but some decisions will come nigh,
and you will be on the spot
to give the thing your bestest try,
and in this know the best you’ve got
to win the point, set, and the game
is to think before you aim.

  2. Hmmm, that’s true, I don’t like to be rushed and I guess most people don’t. But I do appreciate being cheered on and I think that gets better results than prodding! Visiting from FMF#11

  3. I find that I make more mistakes when I am rushed. Jesus took His time with people. He never seemed rushed. As pointed out in Hebrews, perseverance is key. A tortoise vs. the hare effect.

  4. Some of us are early.
    Some of us are late.
Some of us fly through the door
    On the dot and surely
We each have our reasons for the point is that we made it in one piece
    One day God knows only
We will arrive to gates so pearly
And each will have made it on time
    For some late
    For some early
