Jesus Understands Trauma by Matt Kohrell [REVIEW]

SYNOPSIS

Jesus Understands Trauma is about the healing we can find in Jesus from past trauma. We explore how Jesus Understands Trauma because he willingly endured various forms of trauma when he was on earth ranging from family problems, grief, violence, and more. While the book touches on issues that may be triggering, the focus is not on the trauma but rather points to how Jesus understands because he experienced it.

In the book we explore how Jesus has the power to help, his heart for us, the traumas he willingly endured, and that he is our Sympathetic Savior we can come to find healing and live it out with Jesus.

The focus is on the healing we can find in Jesus for our souls.

REVIEW

This book was written by my friend & fellow blogger Matt Kohrell (jesusluvsall.org)

I first met Matt during the height of the COVID -19 pandemic when he hosted a weekly Blogger Chat via zoom.

This book reads a lot like his blog, meaning that he uses simple unadorned language to express deep spiritual truth.

I can see this book being used as a standalone devotional or in conjunction with some type of one-on-one or group therapy.

  1. This is a much needed book by our dear friend, Matt! People need to know and understand Jesus has already went through so much of what may be facing them. It’s a nice plus to know it’s written in simply-put language. I can’t wait to read!

  3. Good review. The book is on a topic we all share. Even if Jesus did not go through exactly the same struggles, he went through things that result in the same amount of pain and trauma. Can you imagine fasting for 40 days and having Satan tempt you? That has got to be the ultimate. And we have to remember that although Jesus was fully God when He was on earth, He was also fully human. He understands us!
