Harvest Blessings

I wrote this post a few weeks ago, but apparently, I neglected to publish it.

In November, our church did a sort of reverse tithe where members were able to pick up an envelope that contained either $5 or $10 cash. The idea was to take this small amount of cash and turn it into a blessing for others. The money could not be used for your own family or close friends. Each Sunday, Pastor Ryan gave us an update on how our Harvest Blessing dollars had increased.

Some of the Harvest Blessings were:

  • One family added additional funds and purchased gift cards that were then distributed to the homeless in Chicago.
  • Some children bought supplies for a lemonade stand/bake sale and used the proceeds to support Toys for Tots.
  • There were those who made gifts for nursing homes and hospitals.

My husband and I chose to help a neighbor who is expecting twins (boy/girl). They already have a toddler who will only be about 22 months old when the twins are born. I cannot imagine having three children under the age of two. Can you? We purchased some baby essentials and left them on their doorstep.
