Divine Assurance and Prayer Support: Encountering God in Adversity

Each month Lisa Notes provides a prompt for those of us in her One Word 2024 group. The prompt for August was “Spark 3 Meaningful Conversations with Your One Word.” Read below to see my take on this month’s quest.

Over the last few months, I have been involved in a court case. It has seemingly taken on a life of its own. The details of the case do not matter. What does matter is how God has been with me every step of the way.

CONVERSATION #1

God has been using the Psalms via Through the Word to speak directly to my wounded soul. As I listened to each lesson and the accompanying Psalm, God’s peace continued to envelop me. My morning time alone with God has assured me time and time again. No matter the outcome, I will be okay.

My faith has been renewed each and every morning.

CONVERSATION #2

From the start of this ordeal, my husband has been supportive. He has lifted me in prayer and spoken words of assurance to me on more than one occasion.

As we approach our thirtieth anniversary next month, my love for him has been renewed.

CONVERSATION #3

I stepped into the sanctuary at church this morning. Every worship song spoke directly to my current situation. I felt a deep connection from the start. The message was about the end of Paul’s life. He continued to do God’s work until the very end. It matters not what the world thinks; in fact, the only opinion that truly matters is God’s.

Our church has a thriving prayer ministry that regularly sees unimaginable answers to prayer. At the end of each service, the prayer warriors are stationed around the room. They are available to pray with and for anyone who asks. Today I approached a diminutive older lady who prayed over me in a way that I have never before experienced.

I was once again assured that God is in control.

  1. Just the words “court case” tends to strike fear in our hearts. It is a situation where things are out of our control, but you are never out of our Father’s hands. God sent the prayer warrior to you today and led you to ask for prayer. Regardless of the case’s outcome, you are loved by the Father, you are a daughter of the King. I will be praying for you this week that God will supply all of your needs.

  2. Dear one🌟,
As soon as I started to pray, a simple vision came of a star shining with bright light with its beams touching the earth, and these thoughts came: First the decree: “Let there be light!”…. and then, that YOU are “the light of the world,” (Matthew 5: 14)…. and to remember this and SHINE!
Do not fear, precious sister:…. All the trouble that we who love the Lord go through is for the furtherance of the gospel, and…. ALL things do work for the good for those who are the called according to His purpose… From this vision, I feel something is going to be born that will bring God much glory.

  3. Praying for you, dear Barb. I think of the courts of heaven…and the fashioning of human courts…the Judge, the accuser/prosecutor, the Advocate/Defender. What joy our Advocate Jesus stands now in these moments with you, a child of God walking presently in His Kingdom.
“…be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” I pray His peace will flow through you, His love strengthen you and give you courage, and the calm of His dignity and holiness glow in your being. “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” God bless you in every way! 💞💐🙏

  4. I am praying for you, I feel like we must be in the same boat, I did a study on prayer last week also, and looks like we too may be involved in a court case. Praying for God to comfort and to provide peace above understanding in whatever it is your facing and a hedge of protection.
