One more thing…ugh

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED JULY 2022

We are in the second week of #ADVENT2025.  According to common practices the theme for the week is PEACE. Read on to see how peace can be restored.

It only takes a twenty second conversation to ruin your whole day.

In the ebb & flow of this thing we call life, some journeys seem hell bent on dragging us into a bottomless pit.

Yesterday was one of those days. I couldn’t believe the words I was hearing. All at once I was shocked, sickened, heartbroken and angry.

In 20 seconds, my perception was forever brused, tainted, and stained. The details don’t matter, however my response does.

I don’t have to wait for the other shoe to drop, because it just hit the floor with a resounding thud.

What now?

This can go one of two ways. I can either stay in this pit and let the Evil One win or trust God to take my hand and draw me back to the light of His love.

I choose LIGHT!

When you get bad news don’t let the devil steal your joy! Remind him that you know your Redeemer lives and will turn things around for you. – Priscilla Shirer

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. – Psalm 23:1-6 NIV

Without faith, it is impossible to please God and sometimes He doesn’t provide the entire picture of your life’s plan, just one pixel at a time. – Dr. Kennetra A. Bryant

I will close with a prayer from WHEN LIFE IS DIFFICULT, WHY YOU NEED TO ASK AND ACCEPT HELP

Gracious Heavenly Father,

You are near those who call out to you in their distress. Even in the lowest valley, You are there. In this season, we ask for Your strength and courage. We need the Holy Spirit to bring us peace and comfort. Father God, protect us from the schemes and lies of Satan. We ask all these things in Jesus’ Name.

Amen

  1. I’ve been a part of many such 20 second conversations in my life, and they are never a joy to endure. It’s a good think God is still on the throne, because life here on Earth can get mixed up and messed up in quite a hurry. A wise pastor once told me, when I came to him after having a difficult conversation with a wayward friend, “David, sometimes all you can do is stand.”

  2. I don’t like to admit it, but Satan knows exactly what buttons to push to disturb my peace very quickly, and it always happens when I feel secure or maybe even smug. It’s like getting smacked with a wet kipper…it wakes me up. I quickly learn my lesson and kneel before my Lord; His way of Peace is the best and only way to victory over the enemy – hallelujah! Thank you for your inspiration tonight sister 🙂

God bless you and your family 🙏
