The Sin of Laziness: A Biblical Perspective #FMF

This week’s Five Minute Friday prompt is LAZY.

The Bible has lots to say about being lazy. Each time that laziness is mentioned, it is in reference to the other sins that go hand in hand with idleness. Laziness leads to procrastination, fear of failure, lack of trust in God’s plan, running away from things that are good for you, and driving people away.

I think we need to differentiate between an occasional lazy day and habitual laziness. The first can bring much needed rest and rejuvination where as the latter invokes more misery with each passing day.

“Laziness has no place in the character of a follower of Jesus.” – Bible Study Tools

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. – Luke 16:10 NIV

  1. Here’s a question: Is it “rest” or “laziness”? I think that goes along with what you said about being habitually lazy or just having a “lazy day”! 🙂
