This week’s Five Minute Friday prompt is DECISION
<><><><><><><><><><>
According to a quick internet search, we make approximately 35,000 decisions each and every day. Of course, some are based on habit, like pouring our morning cup of coffee.
The most important decision a person can make is to follow Jesus. Each day, we choose whether to follow God’s plan for our day or to take a different path.
The chorus below brings up memories of church camp and revivals. It speaks to me of how we must STAY connected to God at all times. How about you?
I HAVE DECIDED – Public Domain
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.
So take this whole world, but give me Jesus;
So take this whole world, but give me Jesus;
So take this whole world, but give me Jesus;
I won’t turn back, I won’t turn back.
Though I may wonder, I still will follow;
Though I may wonder, I still will follow;
Though I may wonder, I still will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
No turning back, no turning back.
Though none go with me, still I will follow;
Though none go with me, still I will follow;
Though none go with me, still I will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
No turning back, no turning back.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. – Matthew 16:24 NASB1995

That sing has a lot of meaning to me Barb. I can remember the day, the air and smells and birds and so much more at 15 years of age

I love that you shared that old song. When I saw the word prompt, I began humming it 🙂 No turning back. Amen.

This is a simple but important reminder that life is full of decisions, even the small ones we don’t think about, and the biggest one of all is choosing to follow Jesus.
That old hymn really says it clearly: once you decide, it’s not just words, it’s a direction for your life. “No turning back” isn’t about being perfect, it’s about staying with Him even when life pulls you in other directions.

You sent me on a hunt. I was thinking about one word–“wonder.” Was it wonder or wander? So, I looked up the lyrics and found SO MANY versions. Some only had a few verses, others had multiple, but none of them had wonder or wander! 🤣

It is interesting how we all have our own versions of songs in our memory banks.

I didn’t try the five minutes, but did write a flash-fiction story based on the word. It took me much longer than five minutes. 😊

Tweaking your words to end up with exactly 100 words can take a L-O-N-G time. I have found that it helps me be more precise.

I didn’t grow up with that song, but I remember thinking when I was little, how I could be faithful to Him for a lifetime (especially when my parents divorced for faithful issues)–but He has shown me how–and I am grateful He has walked with me to understand “no turning back” is possible with Him.
