SYNOPSIS
A small town and resort struggling to survive. A young woman grieving losses. A new constable fighting to keep his job. And a murder whodunit to unravel.
Arabella Stewart survived the Great War, but she has not escaped its shadows. Returning to find her family’s resort failing and a neighbor dead in the snow, she’s determined to prove herself useful again—even if it means working alongside Jax Hastings, an army veteran and current constable who once knew her best and now can barely meet her glance.
Jax’s job—and reputation—hinges on solving this murder, but the last person he wants help from is Bella. What happened in France puts a stone wall between them, and only he knows why.
As they navigate suspicion, secrets, and a painful past, Bella must decide: can she ever truly come home from war? A mystery series starter with resilience and reconnection, hope and healing.
REVIEW
I love a good mystery wrapped in historical fiction. I first met author, DS Lang via the Doro Banyon Historical Mystery series and have read some other works as well. This series takes place in my home state of Ohio, so it grabbed my attention right away.
The murder is solved but the story is not over, I will definitely be reading more books in the series.
I received this book free from the author, publisher, or other source. My only obligation is to provide a fair and honest review.
