Am I the only one who didn’t know that WP was adding blogger achievements?
I’m not sure yet how I feel about this new wrinkle, but it was fun reading through these and other “awards” that we can win in this blogiverse.
What is your opinion?

Love will empower, by design will inspire!
Received 3 earlier today out of the blue, didn’t know anything about it. Interesting, and somewhat of a fun fact to see the reach of your blog. 150 countries reached.

I think it is WPs way of getting us to be more active and use more features.

Perhaps!😊

Yes, surprising. I’ve seen no explanations about it.

I hope you received the same accolades.

They came as a surprise to me too Barbara 🌞
But I have also seen a huge surge in readership from China in the last two days…1060 and counting! To say I am perplexed and surprised is an understatement. God bless you today sister 🙏

If “awards” helps to spread God’s Word, I am for the new feature.

Yes, it’s ‘gamification’ designed with addictive qualities. You can turn it off under the WordPress “Me” tab, in the upper right-hand drop-down menu for your site. Then go to Notification settings. You’ll see multiple checkboxes. Turn off the one for Achievement. Gamification is like what Amazon does with its reading achievements. Bottom line, some like it, but it’s also like AI’s addictive practices. For me and my household, we steer clear of gamification and AI. BTW: It’s probably driven by AI, and that means it has sycophant intent, designed to fluff your pillow and keep you engaged.

Thank you for your input. For me, badges help me track my progress and show areas of improvement. Time will tell how much I pay attention to the badges.

I understand and appreciate the freedom of choice. I hope at some point Amazon gives Kindle readers the option to turn off.

I agree that we should have the ability to customize what types of gamification we participate in.

Thanks for the info. I opt out of anything like that with AI. I know there is a motive even if I don’t always know what it is.

Fortunately, WP gave us an opt-out.

It is a slippery slope for sure.

I noticed this yesterday. as I’m a goal.oriented person who lives to check things off of a list this is dangerous for me…

Yeah, I saw some of those categories and realized that they are not for me. As it says in Treasure. Of the Sierra Madre”…”Badges we don’t need no stinkin’ badges.” 😅🤣

Yep, saw them this morning. Clicked on them to see what they were. I laughed. Don’t think I’ll bother with them again. I don’t need the pressure to “achieve” more.

I see them as fun little notes that will make me smile!

I have to work hard to not let my competitive nature take control. 🙂 You have a great perspective.

I got a few of them too. Most of them were for “achievements” that seemed frankly quotidian, if not meaningless… but I guess that’s okay, considering what they cost me, which was nothing. 🙂

I had to look up the word quotidian. I agree some are very generic.

I received one for leaving a comment that was longer than the post 🙃 I’m like, thanks? I guess?
