In the preceding chapter, John 13, Jesus had just conducted the washing of feet of His disciples and predicted His betrayal. He knew the time was upon Him.
I could picture the disciples clueless, not knowing what lies before them. They believed He was the Messiah so in their minds, Jesus would be with them for as long as it is possible. But this was not to be. Jesus became flesh to pay the greatest price. He wasn’t here to live forever but to die in place of us. Now the time had come.
