Those of you that know me, know that I can sometimes break the rules. Today was one of those days. You see, I sat in my favorite chair with my tablet poised to start a 7-day journey into the 23rd Psalm. Instead of stopping after reading the text for the first day, I read the whole book in 20 minutes.
The book is When Fear Comes Knocking (A Journey Through Psalm 23) written by Efua Uke who blogs at Grace Over Pain
The devotional would be good to use in a small group or even anxiety support group as a place to start a bigger conversation about what fear is & why we must turn it over to our Heavenly Father when it “comes knocking”
I am once again reminded of The Breakup Song by Francesca Battistelli.
Dear Friends, you do not need to live with fear, anxiety or stress, because the Comforter is able to remove it from your life & send it “as far as the east is from the west” (Ps 103)
Barb, this is a topic that hits very close to home for me (generalized anxiety disorder).
Thank you so much for the book recommendation!

A song came to mind just from the title and then I read further and behold you posted the lyrics!
Another songs lyrics goes:
“Fear you don’t define me, ‘cause that’s what My Father does!”
A great reminder to let go and give no room to fear.

So many times, Jesus tells us not to be afraid. Sometimes, when I am afraid, I just close my eyes and focus on Jesus taking my hand. I think of the love that He has poured out on us and His promise to never leave us or forsake us. He loves us through our fears and meets us wherever we are. How blessed we are to be so loved; in our brokenness, He loves us all the more.
