Last Sunday I had the pleasure of rejoining the worship team at church. It has been several years since I have had the opportunity to do so. I have forgotten how much joy that serving God in this way gives me. I love looking out into the congregation as they sing praises to our God. From that vantage point, I witness a myriad of emotions on the beautiful faces of my brothers & sisters. What a blessing to be able to lift them up in a brief prayer.
I have included the lyrics of one of my favorite songs from the set. I think it speaks so much to what is currently happening in our cities. Can you think of other songs?

God of this City
You’re the God of this city
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You are
You’re the light in this darkness
You’re the hope to the hopeless
You’re the peace to the restless
You are
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
You’re the God of this city
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You are
You’re the light in this darkness
You’re the hope to the hopeless
You’re the peace to the restless
You are
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here
There is no one like our God
There is no one like you, God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done
We believe, we believe in you, God
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here
Greater things, still to be done here

I do miss being on the worship team also, whether singing or just playing guitar behind others. So happy you could have that chance again. God bless.

First time I’ve heard this song. How appropriate–not just for the prompt, but for these times we’re in.
Thanks for sharing.

I’m glad you were able to return to your worship team! That is one of my favorite songs too. I have good memories singing it with the church we used to go to a few years back.
