As a preschool bus driver, I spend nearly 40 hours a week with 3, 4, & 5 year olds. As you can probably imagine, we can sometimes have lively conversations while “the wheels on the bus go round and round”.
Recently the conversation centered around what the kiddos like to do with Grandma/Abuela. Here are a few highlights from that chat:
We love to –
- Put on music and bake
- Eat chocolate
- Go to the gym
- Take a walk
- Watch a movie
- Make cookies
- Just hangout
- Go to the park
- Talk to her while she cooks
What about you? What did you enjoy doing with your grandma? If you aren’t able to do everything you would like to do now with your grandchildren, remember that it doesn’t have to be what we think of as important. Notice that going to Disney World, or on a cruise isn’t on the children’s list. It turns out that it is the simple things they love – because they love doing them with you!
I have been young, and now am old;
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his descendants begging bread.
He is ever merciful, and lends;
And his descendants are blessed. – Psalm 37:25-26 NKJV
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward. Psalm 127:3 NKJV
