God is (Always) in Control

The piece below was written for this week’s edition of the Sunshine Newsletter.  It is such a privilege to be part of this ministry.

There was a time not so long ago when our family was struggling. I mean really struggling.  Neither my husband nor I had a full-time job, our cars both died and we were in danger of losing our home to foreclosure.

BUT GOD…was never far away.

We never missed an appointment or had to call off work because we couldn’t get there. There was always someone willing to give us a ride or lend us a vehicle.

Strangers paid for our kids to go to camp.

One Christmas we were the recipients of a Giving Tree.

We came home numerous times to cash in the mailbox and groceries on the porch.

Our kids never complained about having to go without the luxuries that their friends had or the vacations that we couldn’t afford.

And we didn’t have to leave our home.

Through those 3½ years, our family grew closer to God and each other. I honestly don’t know how people do life without the intervention of the Holy Spirit.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Phil 4:6 ESV

  1. Amen. I agree. How people get by with just walking lacadaisically through life without the leading of the Holy Spirit is beyond my grasp. I am totally lost without it. Love the post. Blessings and Peace!

  3. Amen! Sometimes we don’t fully grasp that God is always in control until we find ourselves in struggling situations. Years ago my moment came when my teaching position was cut. I finally understood how God intervenes.
