Share Four Somethings is a monthly link-up that [Heather] started back in 2018. The concept is to share the same four topics every month as a way to look back and recap your month. The link-up opens on the 4th Saturday of every month and stays open for one week. The topics for 2022 are Something Loved, Something Gleaned, Something Braved/Saved, and Something Achieved. If you want to learn a little more about the topics, we will be writing about in 2022; you can read more about them at Share Four Somethings in 2022.
Something Gleaned

I have learned anew that I cannot do everything and it is more than okay to say, “NO”. Just because something is “good” does not mean that I must personally participate. For instance:
Instead of attending a fundraiser, I can provide items for a silent auction.
Instead of joining another committee, small group, or team, I can offer to pray or recommend someone else who is better suited for the task.
Instead of making all the food for a party, I can organize a potluck or dinner at a restaurant.
Instead of trying to be Wonder Woman, I can ask for help.
Something Loved

God has blessed me with an amazing group of littles on the bus this year.
It warms my heart as the students get on the bus and stop for a quick hug. high five, or fist bump before heading to their seat. Listening to the happy chatter among my young friends is a wonderful way to spend my days.
Something Braved or Saved

Something Achieved
This category is always hard for me because it feels like a “brag-imony”.
I guess one thing I am proud of is that I have been asked to write a weekly devotional for our church’s Facebook page. I will eventually publish them as a separate page on my blog.
Ah! The chatter of little folk can be so sweet and enlightening too!
I like what you said about contributing to something without being completely responsible for it. It’s something that I am learning too.
Congratulations on your writing for your Church. I’m sure it will be great.

Oh, that we all could learn the benefits of saying no when it’s needed. I am so-so at it. God bless you for being a bus driver, Barb. I’m sure you’re such a gift to those kids! My sunflowers are finally in bloom. I wish they were as contained as this image. ha. Mine can be quite unwieldly. I’m sure you’ll do a great job with the weekly devotional for your church’s FB page. They asked the right person to do it!

I’m so glad you have a good group of kids this year, Barb, and hugs make the day sweeter. Learning to ask for help is huge. I’m still working on it! A sunflower tree would be quite the sight! What a wonderful way to encourage your local body of believers, Barb! The Lord answered our prayer for an opportunity to encourage others through your words this year. Rejoicing with you!

I struggle with saying no sometimes, especially when it’s something for church. But I can’t do everything, nor should I try.

“Brag-imony” that’s a great word lol 💫 but I don’t think it applies in this case – you’re simply sharing something you feel good about and that’s lovely. I actually think a lot of people find that hard to do,
I think bragging on the other hand, tends to comes with an air of smug arrogance – rather than a wholesome ‘sharing a personal sense of achievement’ tone. 😊

Barb, I learned the art of being able to say “no” quite a while back, I think that can also go under braved. It’s not easy, but it’s necessary. Love the picture of all the sunflowers!!

I like how you find alternatives for the times when you need to say no. I have to work on that too!

Being able to say a well-timed NO is a very useful skill! One I’m still working on! Congrats on writing the church’s devotional – I’m sure God will use you to bless others through that! Visiting from SFS (late!)
