Not So “Fright(ful) Fest”

When you live in Chicagoland you never know what the weather will be like in October. Sometimes it is 80⁰ and sunny. However, we can also experience crippling ice storms. Imagine my surprise when the day of our planned trip to Fright Fest at Six Flags – Great America dawned and it was a glorious sunny day with temps in the mid-60s.

On most days, “Fright Fest features frightful haunted houses, eerie scare zones, and spine-chilling top-notch live entertainment.” But on this day (Columbus Day) the park was only open from 10-7 and everything was kid and family-friendly.

We enjoyed a few rides, had some snacks, and soaked in the beautiful weather.

You can see a bit of fall-color off to the right.

  1. A sunny day in Chicagoland! It looks like you had fun.

I had a friend once who moved to Chicago with his convertible. It wasn’t long before he sold it and got something more practical. There weren’t many “days with the top down” in Chicagoland.
